ISR Self-Rescue Float™ (ages 6mos-12mos)
These are the standard ISR lessons discussed on the ISR website. These lessons usually take six weeks to complete.  This is for children 12 months and under.  Generally speaking, children ages 6 months to 1 year learn the ISR Self-Rescue skill of rolling onto their backs to load, rest and breathe.  They learn to maintain this position until help arrives.

Refresher Lessons
These lessons are for children who have already completed self-rescue lessons. As the name implies, these lessons enable the children to "refresh" the skills that they have already learned. Students attend lessons Monday-Friday for ten minutes each day. Since these skills are not new to the children, refresher lessons usually take approximately two-three weeks.  We recommend taking a refresher class every 4-6 months.

Snorkel
These lessons are for children 4 years of age and older who have completed self rescue lessons and basic stroke.   Lessons average two weeks.

Stroke Lessons (Skilled Swimmers Ages 4+)
Students already skilled in basic survival swim techniques can begin to learn the four competitive strokes.  Stroke swim lessons focus on introducing, developing and refining the four competitive swimming strokes including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.  Emphasis is placed on increasing proficiency and technique of the four strokes, as well as building endurance. Personal water safety is also reinforced through the skills swim-float-swim and elementary backstroke.  Diving and flip turns can also be taught for participants interested in pursuing placement on a competitive swim team program.  Instruction occurs in the form of 30-minute private or semi-private lessons to ensure skills and strokes are acquired quickly.  Recommended frequency is two lessons per week for at least 1-2 months. Our classes have a maximum of two students per teacher to ensure each student gets the individualized attention needed to master these skills.

Please note:  Children under age 4 require instructor approval to participate in our stroke program. The mastery of these higher proficiency skills will depend on the child's maturation and compliance.

Maintenance
**Note: If your child has not been swimming in the past 3 months then you must register for a refresher until your instructor has cleared your child for maintenance.**
These lessons are for children who have already completed survival lessons. Maintenance lessons allow students to continue improving their skills and confidence throughout the year.  Maintenance lessons are scheduled once or twice a week based on your instructors recommendation.  These classes must be booked for a minimum of 4 weeks but most families continue practice throughout the year.

ISR Self-Rescue Swim™ (ages 1yr-6yrs)
These are the standard ISR lessons discussed on the ISR website. These lessons usually take six weeks to complete.  This is for children 1 year and older who are walking.  Older, more mobile children will learn the fill ISR Self Rescue sequence of swimming until they need air, rotating onto the back to float, then rolling back over to continue swimming.  ISR students are taught to repeat this sequence until they reach safety at the steps, side of pool or the shoreline.
